Marcelle Hoff
Marcelle Hoff, born in 1947, was a counsellor before she was elected a City Councillor in 2004. She graduated from Charles Sturt University with a degree in Adult Education and has diplomas in conflict management, psychology and as a business coach. In 2003 Marcelle, along with many other residents, were shocked by plans to sell the old Water Police site – public foreshore land. As President of Friends of Pyrmont Point community group she rallied opposition to the plan. The hard work and solidarity of the Friends of Pyrmont Point resulted in the creation of Pirrama Park.
She was elected in 2004 as an Independent Councillor of the City of Sydney, and served two terms as Deputy Lord Mayor before her health deteriorated and she resigned in 2012. In Council she continued her tireless support for marginalised and vulnerable groups, and helped to empower Sydney residents through financial and administrative support for local projects.
