Vic Martin AO (1923 – 2015)
Vic joined the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney in 1941 when he left school in Maitland. As he rose through the ranks he made many technical and procedural innovations.
He had been appointed CEO by 1981 when he negotiated the merger which produced the National Australia Bank: he became Joint Managing Director in 1983 and retired later that year.
He is more widely famous for chairing the Report Review Group into the Australian Financial System in 1983 which set the framework for Australia’s banking policies and practices. In 1984 he was made an Officer in the Order of Australia.
He and his wife Lola moved to Jacksons Landing in 2002.
