Bank Street Foreshore Park

Bank Street Foreshore Park is a project which has for many years enjoyed community support and the endorsement of the City of Sydney. Through the nineteenth century and beyond, the land was occupied by abattoirs, timber companies and other enterprises that needed water access. Much of this land is now directly underneath the ANZAC bridge.

The foreshore park seemed likely to eventuate in the context of the Bays Precinct redevelopment; however, the failure of landowners and agencies to consult each other has allowed the area to remain unused, except by the Pyrmont Heritage Boating Club and as a launching place (and occasional parking lot) for dragon boaters.
